The Elephants bagged three goals in te space of eight minutes to come from behind to take the three points at home in their Group C opener against The Eagles. Sambou Yatabare opened the scoring for the visitors in the 18th minute before Jonathan Kodjia and Gervinho netted on either side of Salif Coulibaly's own goal in the 31st minute.
Zambia 1-2 Nigeria
Nigeria's Super Eagles pulled off a superb 2-1 win in Zambia to get their 2018 Fifa World Cup qualification off the mark with a victory on Sunday. The England-based duo of Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho scored two first-half goals to help Gernot Rohr's men to a first competitive win in Zambia. Collins Mbesuma got Zambia's goal.
Congo 1-2 Egypt
Hector Cuper-managed Egypt won their first third-round 2018 World Cup qualifier despite going down early to Republic of Congo in Brazzaville.
Ferebory Dore of Ligue 1’s Angers put the hosts ahead on 24minutes, but AS Roma’s Mohamed Salah equalised just before half-time.
Abdallah Said of Cairo giants Al Ahly fired in the winner on 58 minutes and the Pharaohs held on from there.
