Communications Minister, Omane Boamah says Telecom companies cannot flee from Sim box fraud in the country.

His comment follows the arrest of a former president of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), Dr Alexander Tweneboah, for sponsoring the activities of SIM box fraudsters.

He said government will re-register all Sim cards in the country to avoid fraud in the system.

The Minister in an interview on Radio Gold indicated that, “We cannot at this stage extricate the chain completely from this because every telecommunication organisation must have the responsibility for every sim card that is produced for its operations”.

A statement from Subah Info Solutions, who was also involved in the arrest, has indicated that about $33.6 million have been lost to activities of SIM box fraud.
