Twitter has broken, with the network's website and mobile apps inaccessible.

Visitors to the website were greeted by a message telling them that "Something is technically wrong".

"Thanks for noticing," the message reads. "We're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."

Twitter's official status page didn't show any information about the outage, except that they had noticed the outage and were working on it.

In the early days of the site, users were often met by the "fail whale" — a drawing that meant the site has broken. But it has become much more reliable in recent years, tending to go offline much less often and come back up more quickly when it does.
