Women in Africa's tech space set to gather

The week long celebrations will see 400 events hosted in 40 countries including Ghana, Botswana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria and Canada with organisers expecting about 10,000 participants to contribute to the physical and virtual gatherings.

The much anticipated Women In Tech week celebrations will come off on Monday September 26 through to Friday September 30, 2016.

The week will see women in Africa and beyond gather in their respective countries to network, support and share ideas about technology and innovation pioneered by women or to address the needs of women.

According to the founder of Women in Tech Africa, Ethel Cofie, this global gathering “is a collaborative attempt to build a global network, allowing us women to compare our challenges, learn from other countries and connect across borders to expand our influence.”

Each day of the week will focus on one of these themes;  Women in Leadership, Digital Africa, Social Enterprise, Work - Life Balance, Security and Innovation and Technology for the Next Generation.

Women in Tech Africa is a “membership charity supporting women working in technology across Africa to positively support their Communities.” Women in Tech Africa has membership of over 30 countries on the continent and in the diaspora.

Among its core missions is “creating today’s female leaders and role models for tomorrow’s women.”
