Edwin Van der Sar joins Manchester United
On 6 June, 2016, Manchester United completed the signing of Fulham’s Edwin van der Sar.
But after completing his move to The Theatre of Dreams the 34-year-old was unable to contain his excitement: "I am delighted to have signed for Manchester United, one of the most famous clubs in the world," he said.
“I'm looking forward to joining my new team-mates to start preparations for the new season, which promises to be one of the most exciting of my career."
Van der Sar quickly became a firm fans’ favourite at Old Trafford, playing a key role in helping the club win four Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2008.
He set a new PL record in 2009 by going 11 matches and 1,311 minutes without conceding a goal.
The Netherlands international retired at the end of the 2010/11 campaign, finishing his United career with 92 clean sheets from 186 top-flight appearances for the club.
