Asamoah Gyan becomes Africa's top scorer in World

On 26th June, 2014, the Black Stars skipper beat Roger Milla's record to become Africa’s greatest scorer in the history of the World Cup

The striker scored with a header in the 57th minute on Thursday, despite Ghana losing in the end by two goals to one to take his total record to six World Cup goals, overtaking the record of five set by Cameroon’s Roger Milla.

But the Al Ain forward’s goals were not enough to prevent the Black Stars elimination from the tournament in Brazil.

Ghana, who earlier sent home midfielders Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng for disciplinary reasons, needed to beat Portugal but lost following a late winner from Cristiano Ronaldo.
