Kevin-Prince Boateng explains why he chose Las Palmas, it's about Ghana

Ghanaian player Kevin-Prince Boateng explains why he joined Spanish La Liga team Las Palmas after leaving AC Milan at the end of last season.

Las Palmas is a capital city of Spanish Grand Canary island in the Canary Islands. The city is in the north-western coast of Africa.

The former Schalke 04 player has already made his mark, helping his team move to the top of the La Liga table after two games.

Boateng scored on his debut for Las Palmas before bagging another goal in his second of two games so far. The player dedicated his goal to the victims of the Italy earthquake, an act which has seen him get a ban and a fine.

The suspended Black Stars player speaking to German tabloid BILD said he chose the island because he wanted to stay away from the news for the wrong non-sporting reasons.

Prince Boateng also says the atmosphere in Las Palmas and the music reminds him of Ghana.

“In recent years I was often made of non-sporting reasons in the newspaper. That was hard for me. I had lost the joy of the game and I wanted to see.

“The idea to go to an island, far from everything, I liked. The atmosphere is great music before the game music after the game, so much laughter. This reminds me of Ghana.”

Kevin-Prince Boateng is however on the island alone as his wife Melissa Satta and child Maddox Prince are still in Italy due to Melissa’s work in Milan.
