Andy Murray will look to add the US Open title to his Wimbledon and Olympic triumphs at Flushing Meadows next week, while Serena Williams has another chance to make history with a 23rd major success.

Novak Djokovic's surprise early exits at SW19 and Rio 2016 left the door ajar for Murray to go on the longest unbeaten run of his career, while Williams is looking to bounce back from her own Olympics disappointment.

Using data from Opta, we take a look at some interesting facts and figures ahead of the final grand slam of 2016.

- Novak Djokovic has reached at least the semi-final stage of the last nine US Opens, reaching the final on six occasions (winning twice).

- Rafael Nadal has reached three US Open finals, facing Djokovic on each occasion (winning two, losing one).

- The last four winners of the US Open men's singles have all been different players (Andy Murray, Nadal, Marin Cilic, Djokovic), Federer is the only player to defend his title at the tournament this century.
