The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will announce on Tuesday whether Maria Sharapova's two-year doping ban will be reduced.

Sharapova is the subject of a suspension that runs until January 2018, after testing positive for banned substance meldonium at this year's Australian Open.

The former world number one claimed to be unaware that meldonium had been added to WADA's prohibited list at the start of 2016 and duly appealed to CAS.

Following delays caused by "scheduling conflicts", the independent authority confirmed last month that its verdict would be released in the first week of October.

On Monday, CAS issued a brief statement, which read: "Decision in the case of Maria Sharapova v International Tennis Federation [ITF] to be released at 3pm [Swiss time] on 4 October 2016."
