Raonic hires Moya as coach

Carlos Moya, a former Australian Open finalist, has joined Milos Raonic's coaching team ahead of this year's event in Melbourne.

Milos Raonic has added former world number one Carlos Moya to his coaching team ahead of this month's Australian Open.

Raonic, a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 2014, is currently participating in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi and will face Rafael Nadal in the final of the exhibition event.

After defeating Stan Wawrinka on Friday, Raonic announced on Instagram that Moya had been brought on board.

"A great way to start off the New Year - with a win," Raonic posted.

"I'd also like to break some news to #TeamMilos. I'd like to announce the [sic] Carlos Moya will be joining the team in Melbourne.

"As a great champion, competitor and person I think he will be a great mentor/coach to me in achieving my dreams and complementing/joining the team."

Moya reached the final of the 1997 Australian Open before claiming his only grand slam title at the following year's French Open.
