Millman shocks Gasquet to move into semis
The semi-finals of the Winston-Salem Open beckon for Australian John Millman after he surprised top seed Richard Gasquet.
The 27-year-old Millman fired down eight aces on his way to a 7-5 6-3 quarter-final win at the ATP 250 event.
Gasquet struggled on serve, winning just 50 per cent of games in the surprise result.
The last-four appearance is Millman's second of the year after he reached the semis of the Busan Challenger in May, and first ever on the ATP World Tour.
He will face 16th seed Pablo Carreno Busta for a spot in the final after the Spaniard's triumph over Andrey Kuznetsov.
Carreno Busta was largely untroubled as he sealed the 6-4 6-3 win.
In the other semi, second seed Roberto Bautista Agut will face Viktor Troicki in a rematch of the Sofia Open final in February.
Bautista Agut was too good for Lu Yen-hsun, winning 6-3 6-2 in just over an hour.
Troicki, meanwhile, survived a scare to see off Fernando Verdasco.
The Serbian took out the first set but Verdasco secured the second, before eventually sealing a 6-4 3-6 6-4 win.
