Robin Haase will meet Feliciano Lopez in the final of the Swiss Open Gstaad on Sunday, with both men looking to make up for near misses in the past.

Dutchman Haase reached the final of this ATP 250 clay-court event in 2013, only to be beaten in straight sets by Mikhail Youzhny.

And Lopez fell at the final hurdle in 2006, going down in four sets to Richard Gasquet.

Both men have the chance to go one better on Sunday, however, after coming through tough semi-final meetings.

Top seed Lopez lost the first set to Dustin Brown, but rallied to record a 4-6 6-3 6-3 victory, while Haase needed two tie-breaks to see off 2007 champion Paul-Henri Mathieu 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-2).

Haase's last ATP World Tour final came in October 2013, and he will start as second favourite against a man placed 74 spots above him in the rankings.

Like Haase and Lopez, Fabio Fognini will have the chance to make up for a prior defeat as he booked his place in the final of the Croatia Open in Umag.

Fognini, a losing finalist against Tommy Robredo in 2013, defeated Gastao Elias 6-3 6-3. He will face Andrej Martin, who prevailed 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 against Carlos Berlocq.
