Simona Halep and Johanna Konta made it through at the Rogers Cup as all the seeds won on Tuesday, including Karolina Pliskova and Madison Keys.
Halep, last year's runner-up in Montreal, eased past Daria Gavrilova in straight sets while Konta, winner of the Bank of the West Classic last week, beat Shelby Rogers in the same fashion.
Dominika Cibulkova defeated Mariana Duque-Marino, while Madison Keys was too strong for Elena Vesnina.

The fifth-seeded Halep cruised past Australian Gavrilova 6-2 6-3 in the second round.
