Feliciano Lopez lost a final in Gstaad in 2006, but it was a different story on Sunday as the Spaniard got the better of Robin Haase.

Ten years on from suffering defeat in the final of the Swiss Open Gstaad, Feliciano Lopez was finally able to celebrate victory in the same event on Sunday.

Top seed Lopez, who lost out to Richard Gasquet in the 2006 final, beat Robin Haase 6-4 7-5 to earn his fifth ATP World Tour title and first on clay.

A solitary break was enough for the Spaniard to take the opening set, as his opponent struggled to make an impression returning - winning just one point on the Lopez first serve.

Haase, a beaten finalist in Gstaad himself three years ago, initially responded well, moving into a 3-0 lead in set two.

However, he was unable to press home that advantage and Lopez was soon back on level terms.

Another break, at 5-5, gave Lopez the chance to serve out the match and he made no mistake, accepting his first championship point.
