Maligned Australian youngster Nick Kyrgios has vowed not to change his behaviour, despite a turbulent season in 2015.

Kyrgios - preparing for the Hopman Cup which gets underway in Perth on Sunday - rose to 30th in the ATP Tour rankings by the end of the year but that was overshadowed by a number of controversial on-court incidents.

Talk of the Tour for all the wrong reasons, 20-year-old Kyrgios was hit with a suspended ban following lewd remarks directed at French Open champion Stan Wawrinka at the Rogers Cup in August.

Kyrgios, however, has no plans to change his approach in 2016 as he looks to build on his quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open last year.

"I feel as if my game and the way I act on the court isn't going to change too much," he said.

"I've always been an emotional guy and I wear my heart on my sleeve. Every time I go out there I just want to win and that’s going to be the objective my whole career.

"I've got no regrets but I knew it was going to be a rollercoaster. I'm a young dude in his career still growing into trying to be more mature.

"I think I've definitely grown as a person since the start of last year so there'll be some improvements this year."

Retiring Australian former world number one Lleyton Hewitt, who will take up his Davis Cup captaincy duties following the Australian Open, has spent a lot of time with Kyrgios in recent months, attempting to keep the promising player on track.

Hewitt believes Kyrgios is capable of cracking the ATP's top 10.

Of his relationship with two-time grand slam champion Hewitt, Kyrgios added: "I've spent a lot of time with Lleyton already and he helped me out throughout last year.

"Every time there is a week when I'm together with him we can always sit down and catch up.

"If he sees anything that I can improve on, he'll for sure speak up about it and I'm hitting with him today. I think we have a bit of a tight connection."
