Five Real Madrid players and five Barcelona stars were selected in FIFA's Team of the Year, with the Premier League totally snubbed.

Clasico rivals Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi spearhead the fantasy side, as expected, with Barcelona striker Luis Suarez completing the forward line.

In all, nine of the 11 players in the team represent either Barca or Real Madrid at club level, with Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) and Dani Alves (Juventus) the only exceptions.

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, who was nominated for the main individual award, is overlooked.

Ronaldo later added The Best FIFA Men's Player award to his Ballon d'Or, saying in his acceptance speech that 2016 was the best of his career so far.
