Yaw Preko's Ifeanyi Ubah beat Rangers to win cup title

Former assistant coach of Hearts,Yaw Preko guided Ifeanyi Ubah to win the Nigeria Super Cup on Wednesday

FC Ifeanyi Ubah emerged winners of the 2017 Charity Cup after they defeated Enugu Rangers 4-3 on penalties at the National Stadium in Abuja on Wednesday.

It was a fight to finish in Abuja as both teams matched eachother in all areas, but the Nnewi based team looked sharper in front of goal after the fluffed a couple of chances in the first half.

Yaw Preko was on the bench of Ifeanyi Ubah as the acting coach of the club when his side won the Super Cup on penalties.

The match saw FC Ifeanyi Ubah the eventual winners reduced to ten men after Guinean defender Kojo Baah received a second yellow card in the first half.

However, Rangers International take advantage of the numerical disadvantage, as the Ifeanyi Ubah held them to a goalless draw in regulation time.

During the penalty shootout, Super Eagles winger Prince Aggreh converted the decisive penalty kick to hand the Anambra Warriors the much coveted title.

The Charity Cup match was played between Rangers of Enugu who won the NPFL in 2016 and FC Ifeanyi Ubah, the FA Cup winners of the same year; an annual fixture which serves as an appetizer ahead of the new season.
