Sulley Muntari insists referee Daniele Minelli didn’t “have the b****” to stop play after he was racially abused by an Cagliari supporter.

During the closing stages of Pescara’s 1-0 defeat at the Stadio Sant’Elia last weekend, the former Portsmouth and AC Milan midfielder approached a section of the crowd upon hearing a racist chant only to be booked, which then resulted him in being sent off as his protest was met with another yellow card.

Initially, instead of receiving support from the Italian football federation the 32-year-old was banned for one-match – although it was later rescinded – and Muntari has spoken out about how the official wasn’t man enough to bring play to a halt.

“The referee didn’t stop play because he didn’t have the balls,” told Italian satire show Le Iene, as reported by Football Italia.

“If you are a man, you must have the balls to stop play. It’d just be for a second, but in that second, you can make a big difference.

“We are all created by God, the only difference is in the colour of our skin.”

Muntari was named on the bench for this afternoon’s clash against fellow strugglers Crotone at the Stadio Adriatico – Giovanni Cornacchia as Pescara look to end the season on a high note after their relegation has already been confirmed.
