Referee Roger Nii Bonney Barnor has been appointed to replace Michael Alexander as the referee for the world title bout between Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe and Fana.
Ghanaian boxer, Emmanuel Tagoe’s new opponent Mzonke Fana was named to replace Fernando David Saucedo, after the Argentine pulled out of the bout.
Before that time two South African judges namely Alex Matakane and Terrance Makaluza had been appointed as judges, in addition to Andile Antika as the supervisor, because the opponent for Emmanuel Tagoe was an Argentine.
Ghanaian judge Ataa Eddie Pappoe replaced Mike Hook from England due to paperwork.
However, when Fana replaced Saucedo, the camp of Emmanuel Game Boy wrote to IBF that since three South Africans are part of the officials for the bout, so a referee from Ghana should be appointed to bring some level of fairnes and the lot fell on Nii Barnor.
The officials arrived on Tuesday and are residing at the Alisa Hotel and Mzonke Fana, the boxer is expected to arrive on Wednesday ahead of the big fight on Friday 2 December, 2016.
