Ghanaian player named best foreign defender in the Kuwait

Rahid Sumaila beat off competition from Patrick Luiz Fabiano, Shady Alhmami, Firas Alkhatib and Odai Alsaifi to win the accolade

The Al Qadsia defender has won more interceptions than any players in the league and is leading the aerial duels with just a game to end the season.

The 23-year-old pulled 497 votes, beating off competition from Patrick Luiz Fabiano, Shady Alhmami, Firas Alkhatib and Odai Alsaifi.

Sumaila signed for Al Qadsia on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa last season,and helped them finish 3rd before signing a three year deal with the Kuwaiti giants at the beginning of the current campaign.

He has won four man-of-of the match award which gave him the edge over his competitors.
