Stephane Darbion scored the opening goal for Troyes after 37 minutes of play with Lorient going into the first half break with a goal down.

Ghanaian player Abdul Majeed Waris levelled for Lorient with eight minutes to the end of regulation time but 40-year-old Benjamin Nivet scored very late on to give Troyes, who were playing at home a 2-1 win.

The Black Stars striker's goal could prove vital for Lorient if they manage a 1-0 win at home in the second leg on Sunday, 28th May.

Lorient finished in the 18th position and therefore need a playoff to confirm their participation in the French Ligue 1 next season.
