Sportswear Company, Decathlon, is organising an event that will see the world record for most accurate football passes broken.
Hundreds of Ghanaian football lovers will gather at the Junction Mall on April 22 with the hope of breaking the world record of the most accurate football passes. The record breaking event is part of activities to mark the grand opening of West Africa’s largest sports store – Decathlon Ghana.
The current world record of accurate football passes stands at 596 accurate passes and is held by members of the Qatar Petrochemical Company, (QAPCO).
The event will take place at the Junction Mall where Decathlon has acquired a 1,250 square foot space.
The Country Manager of Decathlon Ghana, Kwasi Tabury, said Decathlon is proud to be leading Ghanaians to break the Guinness World Record on the most accurate football passes. “Ghana is known for its love of football and I think it is only proper that we carve our place in history by setting this record.”
To breathe life into the company’s operations in the country, Decathlon intends to regularly engage in various sporting disciplines with customers and interested Ghanaians at their Nungua premises. The company believes this will facilitate collecting accurate data to design products to meet both the environmental and technical needs of the Ghanaian market.
“Our idea is to change the lives of people so we want to encourage people to do more sports because it is good for our health, and promotes better living, said Mr Tabury.
The Decathlon store at the Junction Mall will be a one stop shop for more than 40 sports disciplines including, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Hockey, Lawn Tennis etc. The store will be a place where fans and players of lesser known sports in Ghana would get their sporting gear.
Decathlon is committed to making sports affordable for all and has launched the Sports for All Campaign (#sports4all), a campaign dedicated at encouraging every Ghanaian to pick up sports as a lifestyle.
