Tuesday 14th March is the 84th birthday of  Persib Bandung and it has coincided with the day news of Michael Essiens deal to the club broke out.

Persib Bandung has won just one topflight league title in their entire 84 year history- 2014. However, it has one title to their credit in the second tier league and won their national amateur football competition on five occasions.

The Bandung based side was dethroned as champion of the Indonesian topflight league last season, as it finished 5th on the league log with 56 points.

Meanwhile, the current season is about to kick off, with the 2014 champion very optimistic of reclaiming the league title it lost to Persipura, after augmenting the squad with Michael Essien.

It is nicknamed Bandung Tigers

The Indosian side is affiliated to Italy and European giant, Inter Milan.

Blue is the home colour of Persib Bandung, which is similar to Michael Essien's former side, Chelsea, where he made a bigger impact in his football career.
