Ex-Black Stars boss appointed coach of Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Football Federation has offered Otto Pfister a job as the head of its senior male national football team.

He was handed a one-year deal an d his first major task is to guide the team qualify for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup when the third and final round of qualifying get underway in March.

''After the resignation of former coach Petar Segrt, we tried to hire a good coach and we were able to reach an agreement with Pfister,'' AFF President Keramuddin Karim told reporters.

''We have signed a contract with him and I hope that with Pfister and the new technical staff we will be able to fulfill our people’s wishes.''

Otto Pfister made a mark in Ghana by winning gold for the Black Starlets in 1991 and also propelled the Black Stars to a second place finish in the 1992 Africa Cup Cup of Nations (AFCON).
