Tony Smith's side were beaten in the Challenge Cup final by Hull FC at Wembley last weekend, but bounced back from that disappointment to move a point clear at the summit.
Warrington Wolves win at Catalans Dragons in Super 8s
Warrington Wolves were grateful to Ben Currie's late try as they defeated Catalans Dragons 26-22 to go top of the Super League table on Saturday.
Two Declan Patton scores either side of Kevin Penny's try had Wolves 18-0 up at the break and seemingly cruising, but the home side fought back strongly after the restart.
Vincent Duport, the returning Richie Myler and Ben Garcia all touched down, with Patton's penalty keeping Wolves narrowly ahead 20-18.
A pair of successful Tony Gigot kicks had Catalans in front for the first time, but it was Wolves who had the last laugh as Currie went over with three minutes left to send them above Hull into first with three rounds of the Super 8s remaining.
Meanwhile, in the Qualifiers, Leigh Centurions maintained their perfect record with a 25-18 success over Hull KR.
