Needing a bonus-point win to make sure of their post-season spot, Tasman produced a record-breaking eight-try victory at Trafalgar Park in Nelson on Sunday.

Southland held the greatest winning margin of 41-0 achieved back in 2009 but that all changed as Tasman rocketed up to third position, earning a semi-final showdown with Taranaki.

Pete Samu, Andrew Makalio, James Lowe, Viliami Lolohea, Jesse MacDonald, Alex Nankivell, Alex Ainley and Caleb Makene all crossed over for Tasman, who led 21-0 at half-time.

North Harbour stormed into the semi-finals of the Championship division after outlasting Northland 44-28.

After conceding an early try, North Harbour scored four consecutive tries for a 32-7 bonus-point half-time lead.

And despite being outscored by nine points in the second half, North Harbour secured third position and a final-four meeting with Wellington next week.
