Kotaro Matsushima has become the latest Japan international to sign for the Rebels.

The 22-year-old Suntory Sungoliath utility back has agreed a short-term deal to join the Super Rugby franchise at the end of this month.

Shota Horie, Male Sau and Keita Inagaki have linked up with the Rebels in the last few years and Matsushima is looking forward to following in his compatriots' footsteps, as he prepares to return to Super Rugby after signing for the Waratahs last season.

He said: "I am very excited to have this great opportunity for the second straight year. I know that this challenge with the Rebels will help me grow and improve my rugby skills.

South Africa-born Matsushima played in all four of Japan's matches in their impressive World Cup campaign and has scored six tries in 16 international appearances.
