Two-time Ryder Cup-winning captain Tony Jacklin believes the United States will end Europe's reign this year.

Europe are three-time defending champions heading into the event at Hazeltine, while USA have won just one of the past seven.

However, Jacklin – who led Europe to victory in 1985 and '87 – feels the hosts will come out on top.

"I think that if I had to put the house on it I would favour the American side this year, being a home match," he told Omnisport.

"It's always an advantage, a home game. And they're a young side, a young determined side."

USA are led by the likes of Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth, while Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson are key for Europe.

Jacklin said Darren Clarke's team just needed to continue on from where they left off at Gleneagles in 2014.

"They've got to keep doing what they've been doing," he said.

"They know very well what to do. There's plenty of them on that team that have been on winning teams."
