Jordan Kahu accounted for 20 points as Brisbane Broncos advanced to the NRL semi-finals with a 44-28 victory over local rivals Gold Coast Titans.

Kahu scored the Broncos' first two tries and kicked six conversions to ensure captain Corey Parker, who will retire at the end of the season, signed off from Suncorp Stadium in victorious fashion.

The Titans got off to an electric start and, after Josh Hoffman was denied a try for an in-goal knock-on, Chris McQueen touched down in the fourth minute following a spill from Corey Oates.

Kahu converted a penalty try awarded after Konrad Hurrell kicked the ball out of his hand as he stretched for the line to bring the Broncos level, but David Mead restored Gold Coast's advantage in the 15th minute.

Kahu held off Ashley Taylor for his second of the night and Jarrod Wallace powered between the posts to put Brisbane ahead for the first time on the night, but Hoffman got on the scoreboard when he touched down from Jarryd Hayne's cross-field kick to give the Titans an 18-16 lead at half-time.

However, Hayne's fortunes quickly turned as he fumbled from the kick-off and Alex Glenn crossed from the following set, adding his second before Oates went over in the corner.

A further score for McQueen and one for Ryan James – his 12th of the season making it the most prolific NRL campaign for a prop – were punctuated by an effort from Anthony Milford as hopes of a comeback faded.

Oates picked up a poor offload from Hurrell to leap over in the corner, but Parker was unable to sign off with two points as his attempt at a sideline conversion went wide.

Next up for the Broncos will be a trip to face the loser of the qualifying final between minor Premiership winners Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys.
