Liam Williams could still be fit enough to feature in Wales' meeting with Australia in Cardiff on November 5.

Scarlets full-back Williams limped off with an ankle injury in the 44-26 European Champions Cup defeat to Saracens on Saturday.

Reports consequently emerged claiming the 25-year-old would miss next weekend's Test against the Wallabies, but Wales forwards coach Robin McBryde says he is still in contention for a place.

"He hasn't been ruled out yet and we're seeing how he reacts to treatment, same as Jake Ball [ribs] and Scott Williams [ankle]," said McBryde.

"Jake is pretty sore, it's hard to determine how long he will take and it's the same with Liam really."

McBryde added Taulupe Faletau will not be forced into rushing back to fitness having been included in the squad despite suffering medial knee ligament damage in September.

The coach said the number eight's initial absence for the internationals offers an opportunity for a less experienced player to step up.

He added: "There's a good relationship between Bath and our physio, it's looking good for later on.

"We're not going to put any pressure on him. He's an outstanding world class player so we're going to be sensible about it.

"It's going to be different [without Faletau], but it's an opportunity for somebody else. Ross Moriarty is itching for the jersey and Dan Baker has been doing well with the Ospreys."
