The Jets trailed 4-0 during the second period before remarkably fighting back for a 5-4 overtime victory on Wednesday.

There was less drama in New York, where the Detroit Red Wings recorded a 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard was the star, making 32 saves.

A pair of goals from Nazem Kadri and others from Connor Carrick and William Nylander had the Maple Leafs in complete control.

But Tyler Myers gave the Jets hope before a three-goal third period, capped by a power-play goal from Laine with 55 seconds remaining.

Laine was at it again less than three minutes into OT with the match-winner.

RED WINGS ALSO COME FROM BEHIND

Mika Zibanejad gave the Rangers a lead after 69 seconds, but Thomas Vanek cancelled it out on a power-play in the second period.

Just 59 seconds into the third period, Drew Miller scored for the Red Wings, who had Howard stop 32 of 33 shots.
