Harlequins have announced the signing of South African fly-half Demetri Catrakilis for the 2017-18 season.

Having started his senior career with Western Province, Catrakilis went on to represent the Southern Kings and the Stormers in Super Rugby.

The 27-year-old has been plying his trade for Montpellier in the Top 14 since January 2015, helping them reach the semi-finals last season, and will soon get his first taste of top-flight English rugby.

"I am very grateful for the opportunities I have received so far in my career to play for quality teams and I am very excited to continue on this trend next year with a prestigious club like Harlequins," said Catrakilis.

"For the present however I am focused on doing one better than last year for Montpellier and very much determined to give my all for the club and the fans before I join Harlequins.''

Harlequins sit eighth in the Premiership following the opening six games of the season.
