Bird has penned a five-year deal in Perpignan, which will take him up to his 37th birthday, however the final two years of the deal will see the forward operate as the club's assistant coach.

Having previously played for the Super League club in 2009, Bird's return fulfils a promise made to Catalans chairman Bernard Guasch.

Bird said "I had always intended to return to the Dragons and promised Bernard I would come back and win a premiership.

"They reached out to me and offered me a long-term deal this week which I was only too happy to agree to.

"I have fond memories of my time at the Dragons, it's a wonderful place to live and my wife and I are excited to be taking on this new chapter in our lives."

Bird scored 100 points in 129 games for Gold Coast and Titans CEO Graham Annesley said: "No one can doubt the commitment Greg has played with throughout his career whether it be for his club, his state, or his country.

"He is a fierce competitor and always gives 100 per cent which is why his team mates at all levels love playing alongside him.

"We wish Greg the very best of luck and success for the remainder of his career."
