Kenny could miss UCI Track Cycling World Championships

Seven-time Olympic medallist Jason Kenny is yet to decide if he will defend his world sprint titles in Hong Kong next year.

Jason Kenny may not defend his UCI Track Cycling World Championship sprint title as he takes a break from the sport following his heroics at Rio 2016.

The British rider won three gold medals at the Olympics earlier this year with victories in the team sprint, individual sprint and keirin.

His achievements in Brazil saw Kenny move level with Chris Hoy on six Olympic golds as the most successful British athlete, a record he could easily go on to break in the future.

Kenny's preparations for Rio saw him claim the men's sprint crown at the 2016 World Championships in London, but his quest for a third world title - having also won in 2011 - could be put on hold.

"It's been an amazing experience," said the 28-year-old.

"Next potentially is the World Championships but I'm pretty relaxed at the moment. I won't go back to training until I feel like going back to training.

"There's no point. Until you want it there's no point forcing yourself to go back.

"I think it's important that we take a good break, recharge our batteries, try other things and come back to it when we want to."
