Ben Simmons suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot after rolling his ankle during the final scrimmage of the team's training camp on Friday, Philadelphia 76ers have announced.

The 76ers are evaluating treatment options for the number one overall draft pick, but a timetable for his expected return is yet to be announced.

Simmons gave Philadelphia fans a reason to be optimistic for the first time in two decades - he is the first top pick by the 76ers since the franchise selected Hall of Fame guard Allen Iverson in 1996.

The 20-year-old Australian and former LSU forward averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and two steals per game in his lone season in Baton Rouge.
