The San Diego Chargers have suffered another major injury blow with the loss of Danny Woodhead for the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee.
An MRI scan on Monday confirmed the running back is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines just a week after wide receiver Keenan Allen tore his ACL in the opening game of the season.
The 31-year-old missed almost all of the 2014 season after breaking his right ankle. He also sprained his left ankle over the summer but was thought to be healed heading into training camp.
The only consolation with the latest injury would be Melvin Gordon's solid performance through the first two weeks. After a tough rookie season, the 2015 first-round draft pick has rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns so far in 2016.
