The Brisbane Broncos star underwent scans and saw a specialist on Friday on an injury which has impacted him since State of Origin.
Matt Gillett avoids surgery, cleared for Four Nations
Australia second-rower Matt Gillett has avoided an operation on his shoulder and is available for the Four Nations.
Gillett, 28, is now expected to be selected by the Kangaroos, who face New Zealand, England and Scotland in October and November.
"No surgery will be required for Matt," Broncos high performance manager Jeremy Hickmans said. "He has a sore tendon in his shoulder but nothing surgical will need to be done.
"Matt will be fine to play in the Four Nations tournament if he is selected."
Gillett has played for Australia twice, including in a victory over New Zealand earlier this year.
Australia are two-time Four Nations champions, winning the tournament in 2009 and 2011.
