Aaron Finch revealed that a tirade from Darren Lehmann did the trick for Australia after the tourists sealed a one-day international series win in Sri Lanka.

Australia were pegged back at 1-1 when they were bowled out for 206 to suffer an 82-run defeat in the second ODI in Colombo last week.

Captain Steve Smith was allowed to return home following that defeat, having skippered Australia in a shock 3-0 Test series defeat.

David Warner has led the side in Smith's absence and they have responded with back-to-back wins to take an unassailable 3-1 lead with one game remaining.

Finch blasted an Australia record-equalling 55 from only 19 balls as they coasted to victory in Dambulla on Wednesday and the opening batsman revealed that a dressing down from head coach Lehmann spurred the ODI side back into life.

He said: "We copped a pretty good and a pretty fair bake after the second game in Colombo, everyone did – batters, bowlers, fielders.

"There was no dust left on the shelf, everyone copped it. I can't repeat most of what it was that he said.

"So he didn't miss anyone to be fair."
