Aston Villa continue to impress under new boss Steve Bruce as they picked up a 1-1 draw away at high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday evening.

Villa went into the game having won three and drawn two of their five games under Bruce, and when Nathan Baker headed them in front at Brighton, it looked like it could be four victories in six.

However, Brighton did hit back before half time as Glenn Murray sent a superb long-range strike fizzing past Pierluigi Gollini and into the bottom corner of the net to rescue a point for the Seagulls.

Either side could have won the game in the second half as Murray and Jonathan Kodjia both had headed opportunities, but ended in a draw to extend Bruce's unbeaten run as Villa boss to six games.

Many Villa players impressed, but Sky Sports handed winger Albert Adomah the man of the match award – and Villa fans raved about the Ghanaian's performance after the full time whistle.

The former Middlesbrough man, 28, arrived at Villa on deadline day back in August, but has blown hot and cold at times before producing a scintillating display on Friday evening.

The pacey wide man caused no end of problems for the Brighton defence, and fans took to Twitter to praise his performance, suggesting that he's better than Adama Traore, who went in the opposite direction to Middlesbrough.

Fans thought that Adomah was brilliant against Brighton, even comparing him to former Villa winger Ashley Young, and added that midfielder Mile Jedinak was possibly just as impressive as Adomah on Friday night.
