Kotoko progress to quarter finals on penalties

The Porcupine Warriors survived Storm FC’s scare to win on penalties in the MTN FA Cup round of 16

Emmanuel Asante became the hero of the evening when his last penalty kick sent Asante Kotoko to last 8 of the national knockout contest

Mpraeso based Storm Academy shot into the lead in the 15th minute through their skipper Emmanuel Twumasi Frimpong, after playing some delightful football but with defeat smiling at Asante Kotoko, they threw everything upfront and exhibited an all attacking football that paid off with Bennett Ofori fetching them the equaliser in the 53rd minute.

Asante Kotoko pushed for the match winner, but the hosts were resilient in defence to contain, the 2014 champions of the competition to throw the game into penalties shootout.

In the penalty shootout, the Porcupine Warriors scored all their 5 kicks through Obed Owusu, Evans Quao, Samuel Kyere, Eric Donkor and Emmanuel Asante in that sequence, whereas Storm Academy scored 3 of their 4 kicks, but wasted the 3rd kick.
