GFA happy with Nii Lantey's exit as Sports Minister

Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed the delight of the GFA to see Nii Lantey Vanderpuye leave as the Minister of Youth and Sports on January 7

The Sports Minister who doubles as Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency has been on war path with the Ghana Football Association since he was appointed eight-months ago.

But Vanderpuije tenure as leader of the Ministry will come to an end after January 7, 2017, after the President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo is sworn-in.

And Nyanytakyi says it is a good thing Vanderpuije would no longer be at the Ministry.

“Maybe it is good that he will not be the minister after January 7, else the Black Stars and all the national teams would have lost the spectacle and all the shine that we all know about them,” Mr. Nyantakyi said.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars of Ghana are currently in UAE preparing for the upcoming 2017 AFCON tourney after Avram Grant named his final 23-man squad on Wednesday.

The continent’s flagship competition will come off in two weeks’ time in Gabon.
