How the Hearts of Oak coach kept his job

Hearts of Oak have confirmed Kenichi Yatsuhashi will remain as head coach at the club. Here is how the manager kept his job after sack rumours.

According to sources close to Pulse.com.gh, the club's strategic committee led by Vincent Sowah-Odotei prior to the club’s board meeting had decided to give the Japanese-American trainer the sack over insubordination.

The sources revealed that as at 10 am on Thursday, the sacking letter of the former Aspire Academy trainer was ready but the strategic committee was waiting for the club’s board approval.

“Kenichi was on the verge of being sacked but at the board meeting but the strategic committee’s decision was overturned,” a source close to the club told Pulse.com.gh.

“Kenichi is still Hearts of Oak head coach. The board took a lot of things into consideration. First was the huge sums of money the club paid to David Duncan when he was sacked, and they were not ready to make that mistake again so the board decided to let Kenichi continue with his duties at the club.”

“The board admitted that the behaviour of the coach in certain stages affected the club because the club began the season very well but at the end of the first round the club dropped to 4th. Despite that, the board still has a lot of confidence in the coach and they expect him to turn the tables around,” the source added.

Yatsuhashi joined Hearts of Oak last year October on a two-year deal and after the first round of games his club are 4th and they currently remain the only club yet to lose an away game in the league.
