Remi Garde lays into Ghanaian star for red card

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has criticized Jordan Ayew for his red card act against West Ham United

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde gave his striker Jordan Ayew a dressing-down in training on Wednesday after the player’s red card incident in the English Premier League.

The Ghanaian player in what West Ham manager Slaven Bilic describes as a ‘moment of madness’ was sent off for an elbow on Aaron Cressweell on Tuesday night. The off the ball incident that will see the Black Stars forward miss the next three games for his Aston Villa side did not go down well with his boss.

The Daily Mail reports that Remi Garde hauled the 24-year-old Ghanaian to into his office during training on Wednesday and let out his feelings to his player.

Jordan Ayew’s dismissal in the game affected Aston Villa who lost by two goals to nil to West Ham and could further hurt their bid to stay in the English Premier League.

The former Olympique Marseille and FC Lorient player is expected to be fined by Aston Villa for indiscipline in addition to him missing the games against Norwich City, Liverpool and Stoke City through an automatic suspension.

Jordan has however apologized for his action posting on his Instagram page:

‘Looking back at my impulsive actions last night I sincerely apologise to the supporters of Aston Villa, my teammates, AVFC staff and my coach.

‘I take full responsibility for my actions and I don't wish to dwell on my mistake but rather look forward to playing again to prove myself to be true to claret and blue as I have done from the moment I joined AVFC and I do not intend to slow down now.

‘To my fans and everyone I offended, I ask that you join me in moving on from this unfortunate situation as I continue to focus on my career and the success of the team. We fight till the end. Up The Villa!'
