USA line up Ghana match in October

According to ESPN, Avram Grant's men will take on Jurgen Klinsman's U.S. team at the RFK Stadium in preparation towards the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars of Ghana will face World Cup foe the USA in an international friendly on October 11 in Washington.

"We're working on a second October game," U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe confirmed to ESPNFC.com on Monday. "But nothing has been finalized yet."

Ghana and the United States are no stranger to one another. They have played each other in each of the last three World Cups. Ghana knocking the U.S. out in both 2006 and 2010.

The USA finally got their revenge in 2014 thanks to John Brooks’ iconic late goal. That victory helped the Americans advance to the knockout stage, where they were knocked out by Belgium.

The two countries have never met outside of World Cup play. There were negotiations to have the teams play in a friendly last year before those plans fell though.

Ghana is ranked 36th in the world, according to FIFA. The Black Stars kick off the third round of regional qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia against Uganda on Oct. 3.
