Ghanaian duo nominated for MLS Goal of the Week

The Columbus Crew and DC United players are vying for the best goal ofthe week award.

Ghanaian duo Harriosn Afful and Lloyd Sam are in contention for AT&T MLS Goal of the Week in the Major League Soccer.

Afful scored a stunner on Sunday after unleashing a powerful drive from distance to give the his side Columbus Crew the lead against Chicago Fire.

A corner played on the ground to the edge of the area and then Afful ripped a blast that settled just underneath the crossbar, seeming to come up on Fire keeper Sean Johnson too quickly for him to make the save.

DC United's Lloyd Sam has also been nominated for his goal against Columbus Crew SC on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

The goal was Sam's third in a Black-and-Red uniform, second in as many games and his second nomination as a member of United.

Afful and Sam are competing wth David Villa, Jozy Altidore,  Simon Dawkins, Justin Meram and Brad Wright-Phillips.
