KP Boateng rents private jet to carry team-mates

The Ghana international paid for a private plane for all his Las Palmas team-mates to travel back from Valencia after a La Liga game.

On a bad night in Villarreal where Las Palmas were defeated 2-1 and a gruelling trip back to Gran Canaria on the horizon, after an awards ceremony in Valencia, one player stepped up to the plate.

That player is Kevin-Prince Boateng. The Ghana international paid for a private flight home for himself and his team mates so they didn’t have to wait four hours in a stopover in Barajas.

Las Palmas had been invited to Valencia for the La Liga awards, so when Boateng dipped in to his pockets to fly straight back home he saved his pals an eight hour journey.

The 29 year old has proved to be a real hit with the Las Palmas players, he has become the main organiser of activities outside of the club, regularly inviting the group to dinner and even done so a couple days after he had signed for the club.

Boateng has always been a popular figure in the dressing room wherever he has gone, he did not really make a huge impact in the Premier League with Tottenham but certainly proved his critics wrong at AC Milan.

Las Palmas will be hoping that they can keep the Ghanaian as his contract runs out in June and now the transfer window has opened he will be free to talk to other clubs about a free move in the summer.

His performances for the Spanish outfit have been fantastic but whether he would command a regular spot in a Premier League midfield remains to be seen.

Boateng looks comfortable playing in Spain and has had a big influence on the team, so for both parties it may suit them to stick with what they have got.
