After withdrawing from the BMW Championship, Jason Day is expected to return at the PGA Tour finale at East Lake next week.

Jason Day's coach is confident the world number one will return to action at the PGA Tour Championship after his recent back problems.

Day withdrew from the final round of the BMW Championship with the injury having already secured his place in the end-of-season tournament.

The Australian - who has a history of back trouble - only completed eight holes on that round, but caddie and coach Colin Swatton has suggested he will return at East Lake.

And Swatton believes the course in Atlanta could suit the 28-year-old's game perfectly.

"It wouldn't surprise me if he just clicked into gear," Swatton says.

"East Lake has a lot of holes with three woods and irons off a lot of tees so we will look and see what sort of game plan we want to take in.

"If we want to take more of a Players Championship-style approach to East Lake to feel competitive, then that's what we will do."

There will be no changes to Day's swing, either, with Swatton confident in his technique.

"I think we've made a career out of the way he's swung, and honestly you're going to get wear and tear in any swing," Swatton added.

"It's one of those things that if you are a race car driver, sooner or later you're going to put it into the fence. But it's about understanding how to get around the golf course and how to get around a racetrack without running into the fence all the time.

"Things that have made Jason great are things that are also potential road blocks, but it's about taking the good with the bad. If you want speed and to hit it high and long, then you've also got to hit it a little quicker now and then."
