These 12 Ghanaian players won titles with their clubs in 2016-17 season

Pulse Sports has compiled a list of 12 Ghanaian players who helped their clubs emerge champions after the just ended European season

Christian Atsu

The Ghana international played a key part of Newcastle United title success and Premier League promotion after scoring five goals in 32 league matches. They gazumped Brigton & Hove Albion to win the Championship on the final of the English Championship

John Boye

The tall lanky defender was a pillar at the back of Sivasspor on their road to winning the Turkish seond tier league to secure promotion to the topflight.

Boye who was excited for helping his side qualify for the topflight led his teammates in their ceebration.

Kwadwo Asamoah

The Ghana midfielder won his 5th consecutive Scudetto as Juventus won their sixth in a row last weekend. Kwadwo Asamoah made 17 appearances in all competitions and scored no goal. Asamoah despite losing his starting role in the team to Brazilian left full back Alex Sandro ensured he lived up to the billing whenever he was called upon. His side Juventus added the Italian Cup title after beating AS Roma and they have the Champions League final to contest for against Real Madrid.

Rahim Ayew

The former Black Stars player joined Gibraltor topflight side, FC Europa last year. Rahim helped the club dethrone Lincoln Red Imps who had won a record 14 consecutive league titles. The former Asante Kotoko player made 24 appearances, gave seven assists and scored twice.

Samuel Laryea Mensah

Mensah was involved when Ostersunds thrashed Norkorping to win the Swedish Cup. In all he has featured 12 times for Ostersunds in the ongoing Swedish Allsvenskan league

Samuel Tetteh

The former WAFA attacker was promoted from Liefering the youth side of Red Bull Salzburg after registering 10 league goals in the first half of the just ended season. Samuel Tetteh, however, after sealing promotion to Red Bull Salzburg, suffered an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season, so he wasn't actively involved in the title campaign, but he was part of the players registered by the club.

Frank Acheampong

The Ghanaian winger was effective for Anderlecht in the 2016-17 season. He played at both the left full back and left wing positions for the Belgian giants at different times of the season whenever the situation merited it. Frank Acheampong made 28 appearances and netted twice, as he helped the team clinch the Belgian topflight league, which was his second after the 2013-14 title.

Emmanuel Adjei Sowah

On his first full season with Anderlecht, he was used in six games and also contributed in helping his side win the league title. The former Dreams FC defender has been a transfer target for German topflight side Leipzig.

Dennis Appiah

The Ghanaian defender joined the Royal Blues from Caen in the French league. He featured 16 times for Anderlecht and was very effective heading to the latter part of the season. Appiah also paid his dues when his side clinched the Belgian league.

Ebenezer Ofori

The Ghanaian midfielder completed his move to Stuttgart in the German second tier league during the January transfer window, after the Africa Cup of Nations with the Black Stars. He helped Stuttgart to emerge champions of the Bundesliga II and secure promotion back to the German top flight league.

Hans Nunoo Sarpei

The nephew of former Black Stars defender Hans Adu Sarpei also contributed his quota when Stuttgart won the Bundesliga II, but he missed the second half of the season due to injury.

Kennedy Boateng

The former West African Football Academy (WAFA) defender/defensive midfieder joined the Austrain Bundesliga II side in 2016. He helped them win the Austrian second tier league to secure promotion to the elite dvision. Kennedy Boateng was fielded in 21 games and bagged two goals
