Andy Yiadom headlines Ghanaians to watch this weekend

We took a look at the most tantalizing weekend fixtures from across Europe, and put together a list of Ghanaian players who we think need to be watched closely.

Andy Yiadom

All eyes will be on the Barnsley defender when the Reds take on Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon. The right-back has been rewarded for his impressive performances by receiving an international call-up from Ghana for their World Cup qualifier against Egypt. Yiadom will be aiming to put up a good show after earning a his debut call-up into the Ghana national team.

Alhassan Wakaso

It will be intriguing to see how things unfold when Rio Ave welcome Boavista at the Estádio do Rio Ave  on Saturday evening, with Black Stars' newbie Alhassan Wakaso starting for the home side. Wakaso, alongside Andy Yiadom, was handed his debut invitation to the Ghana national team for the crunch World Cup qualifier against Egypt.  Wakaso has enjoyed a renaissance this season, and it will be intriguing to see how the youngster fares this weekend in the Portuguese top flight.

Ema Boateng

Ema Boateng has often had to watch on while some of Los Angeles Galaxy’s more high-profile players have stolen the show this season, but the Ghanaian wideman has come into his own in the play-offs, scoring twice in the victory over Real Salt Lake. Having won 1-0 away at Colorado Rapids in the first leg of the Eastern Conference semi-final, can Boateng help his teammates over the line?

Kevin-Prince Boateng

Expect Ghana attacker Kevin Prince Boateng the line for Las Palmas against Eibar on Saturday afternoon, and after scoring in two consecutive games, he’s in good form. Prince has been key to the Canary Islanders’ start to the season, with four goals in his opening eight league games.

Kwadwo Asamoah

Juventus travel to Chievo Verona in the Italian Serie A on Sunday, and Kwadwo Asamoah will be desperate to get a run out. The Ghana international came on for the remaining eight minutes of Juventus’ victory at home against Sampdoria in Serie A on Wednesday night. Asamoah had been out with a knee injury since September 24 after picking up the knock in a game against Palermo. He is expected to play a role at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegod as the Old Ladies are aiming to continue their dominance in the Serie A.
