Hearts of Oak stand-in coach Yaw Preko has congratulated Wa All Stars for winning their first league title after accumulating 53 points.

The Wa based side in the league decider beat Aduana Stars 2-1 at the Wa Park last Wednesday to win the 2016 domestic top-flight championship with one game to spare.

Prior to the season, the Wa giants were not among the teams tipped to win the league but they defied all odds to achieve that great feat after edging out clubs such as Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold for the trophy.

“From the beginning of the season up till now, they have done very well. They have not lost at home. So if they are able to win the league that means they deserved it,” said Preko.

“Exactly what happened last season in U.K. about Leicester City but at the end of the day they won it, so if Wa All Stars have won the league I will say congratulation to them. They fought for it,’ he added.

Wa All Stars in their last game of the season lost 3-0 at Hasaacas.
